He made himself known by publishing on YouTube, sharing a large number of covers of popular songs. He is the first Cameroonian to launch a Youtube channel of covers. At the time, he was called Shawmey Locko. In 2014, he joined the label Big Dreams.He is presented as the Cameroonian RnB revelation of the year by the French magazine Paris Match .

He is the 71st generation of kora players in his family and a younger brother to Toumani Diabaté.Mamadou Sidiki Diabaté, widely known as “Madou,” .He is part of the seventy-first generation of kora players in his family. His family has a long heritage in the oral tradition of jalis (sometimes spelled djeli), or griots.
